The government of France’s overseas territory New Caledonia recently approved Akuo Energy’s plan to deploy a 150MWh battery energy storage system. The project, with an investment of about $82 million, is expected to help New Caledonia achieve a green and low-carbon transition.
According to a bulletin issued by the local government on August 10, French renewable energy developer and independent power producer (IPP) Akuo Energy plans to deploy this battery storage system with a duration of 3 hours. The announcement claims that the energy storage project to be deployed in the municipality of Plum will become the largest battery storage system in France.
