The United States to Add Another 2.5GW TOPCon Solar Cell Module Capacity!

Recently, Canadian solar manufacturer Heliene announced its plan to construct approximately 1GW of solar modules and 1.5GW of high-efficiency batteries in the United States by 2024. With the support of a $150 million credit loan from the New York investment fund Orion Infrastructure Capital, Heliene will invest approximately $145 million in the factory. The battery production plant will focus on producing n-type TOPCon solar cells.

According to current regulations, U.S. manufacturing requirements demand manufacturers to disclose the total costs of their systems. To qualify for a 10% reward, battery production must achieve the 40% cost target set in the guidance. Heliene’s CEO, Martin Pochtaruk, stated that once the battery production plant is completed, Heliene’s customers will fully benefit from the 10% domestic content adder clause under the government-issued Inflation Reduction Act’s Investment Tax Credit (ITC) policy.

Additionally, Enel 3Sun and Hanwha Qcells also announced their battery production capacity plans in the United States. Enel aims to produce 3GW of heterojunction technology (HJT) batteries in Oklahoma by 2025, while Qcells’ comprehensive production plan in Georgia includes a 3.3GW battery production plan.
