August 18, 2023by EAEST0

According to data compiled by the American Clean Power Association (ACP) and Wood Mackenzie, the first half of 2023 witnessed a significant surge in new utility-scale energy storage installations in the United States. As of the end of Q2 2023, there were 260 utility-scale energy storage projects across the US, resulting in a cumulative installation capacity of 21.1 GW/59.9 GWh. This represents nearly double the capacity from the previous quarter.

Wood Mackenzie’s projections indicate that the growth in energy storage installations in the US will continue in the coming years, with a particularly notable doubling of capacity for large-scale energy storage projects in 2023. Concurrently, the United States has introduced a series of policy measures to support the research and development of energy storage technologies and to facilitate their widespread adoption. These initiatives are aimed at achieving domestic growth and promoting the resurgence of manufacturing by fostering localization in the energy storage sector.
