EAEST Partner Edwin Koot Addresses Global PV + Storage Market Forum at SNEC 2026 Shanghai
Shanghai, 4 June 2026
The European Association of Energy Storage Trade (EAEST) is pleased to report that Edwin Koot, Founder and CEO of Solarplaza International B.V. and a longstanding partner of EAEST, delivered a keynote address at the Workshop on Global PV + Storage Market Outlook and Development Strategies Forum on 4 June 2026, held in conjunction with SNEC PV Power Expo in Shanghai, China.

The workshop attracted over 30 industry professionals, drawing a focused and engaged audience of senior representatives from across the global photovoltaic and energy storage sectors. The session was held to a full house, reflecting strong industry interest in strategic perspectives on the evolving European and US storage markets.
Speaker Profile: Edwin Koot
Edwin Koot is one of the most experienced figures in the global solar energy industry. He began his career in the photovoltaic sector in 1994 — at a time when solar energy remained a niche and largely pre-commercial technology — and has since accumulated over three decades of hands-on expertise as a solar energy consultant and project developer, with involvement in more than 200 PV projects across international markets.

Edwin holds a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering and previously worked in the chemical industry before establishing his first consultancy company in the photovoltaic sector in 1994. He founded Solarplaza International B.V. in 2004 with the mission of connecting and advancing the global solar energy industry. Under his leadership, Solarplaza has grown into one of the most respected platforms in the global PV and storage space, convening industry events, market intelligence, and professional networks across multiple continents.
Keynote Address
Edwin’s keynote was entitled:
“Bridging the GW Gap: Navigating the New Complexity of European & US Storage Markets”

The address examined the structural and strategic challenges facing the European and US energy storage markets at a critical juncture — including regulatory complexity, grid integration constraints, financing dynamics, and supply chain realignment — offering attendees a senior practitioner’s perspective on how industry participants can effectively navigate the evolving landscape and bridge the gap between current deployment levels and the gigawatt-scale ambitions set by policy frameworks on both sides of the Atlantic.
